while enjoying a bit of the africa magic channel, came across my favorite ousmane sembene film, faat kine, about post-independence senegalese women living on their own terms. when i went to hedgebrook, now over a year ago, i traveled very light on books and films with the exception of the late great sembene. thought of blogging a list of the things I carried, but forgot. all the same, enjoy this clip. --AL.
